Friday Night-Date Night!

Friday Night Mr. Kirbyface and I had a much needed Date Night.
And not just any Date Night but an overnight Date Night.

;)

(Thanks Uncle Ben and Aunt Brit for taking the kids!)

We started our Date Night a tad early.....
With a nice drive

to a place we don't visit enough.

We had the best of intentions.

Here was the plan.

Drive to San Francisco
Check into the Hotel
Go see the Giants Kick some Mets Butt. (Thanks Aunt Mard!)
Start Clay's B-day Celebration early
Sleep in.
Eat somewhere with Tablecloths, no chicken nuggets on the menu and not have to cut someone else's food while ours gets cold.

Here's what happened.

Normally we are both SO excited to go to the Giants game.  It's one of Clay's favorite things to do.

We had been looking forward to it for weeks.

It was the WHOLE reason we were in the city.

But....

We both worked a full day and when our exhausted feet hit the floor of the lovely Villa Florence they did not want to leave.

Clay looked at me and said.....

"Not going to the game...wouldn't be the worst thing would it???"

I looked at him in shock.  Clay.....not wanting to go to the game???  He MUST be exhausted....

I guess the thought of paying $9 for a beer, fighting to hear each other over screaming fans, and having horrible indigestion from over indulgence in multiple carbohydrates was not the most enticing way to spend a much needed evening away from the kids.....

So...

After much turmoil...

We chose adult conversation and fine dining over our much loved Giants.

After enjoying our Hotel room for a bit we mustered up the energy to walk to dinner.

We ended up at The Fog City Diner.

I have always wanted to eat there, and never have.  I always figured it wouldn't live up to the expectations the Visa commercial had set.

Boy was I wrong.

We started our meal off right
Oysters on the Half shell washed down with Sonoma Cutrer Russian River Chardonnay for me, and Tuna Tartare with Grey Goose and Cran for Clay.

To say dinner was amazing would be an understatement. I was only able to capture our appetizers because when the main course came we both devoured it before I could remember to take a photo.

Clay had the 3 Cheese Mac and Cheese, and the Cheddar bay biscuits.  I had the Grilled Prawn Cobb salad.

I would put this dinner in the top 10 meals that Clay and I have ever consumed.

We were happy campers.
Clearly.

We headed back to our Hotel and had a quick nightcap, and then back up to our room to get some much needed rest.

So we did accomplish a lot of what we set out to do.

We did eat at a place with white tablecloths and were able to eat as soon as our food was set down.
We did sleep in.
We did have adult conversation.
We had lots of laughs.
We definitely kicked off Clay's Birthday celebration.

It was the perfect date night.

And when we woke up today, we learned the Giants lost......

We came home Saturday afternoon and picked up the kids and headed to Nonu's.

The kids were happy to see us.

But happier when we told them swimming was in their immediate future.

It's no secret my children love the water.

Such a fun weekend! And it's still going.....

Love that!
