Tradition Continues...

Scouts.

  It's in our blood.

Clay was a Boy Scout, I was a Girl Scout.  It was inevitable that Jack would be in the scouts too.

1958- Clay's dad Rob in his uniform.  He was 10.
(How awesome is this picture??)

1988-Clayton receiving one of many awards to come.  Clay was 10.

1988-A whole family of Scouts.
(Oh My Lord....This could be one of my favorite pictures my Father in Law has ever sent me.  Classic.)

2012- Tiger Cubs begin for Mr. Jack Kirby.
(How cute is he???)

And just like his father....he is there to support his son.
Den Leader Clay.

I could not be prouder.

I am sure there will be much, much more to come.

But for now.....

I am so excited for this little man to begin his Scouting Journey.

Weekend in Pictures!

My weekend started with me working from home.....
Slippers and yoga pants are my new uniform....

;)

During my breaks from online training....
I made my famous
3 meat
Lasagna
with homemade herbed ricotta.

I wouldn't slave over a hot stove in 90 degree weather for just anyone.
This weekend we celebrated Mary and Baby Donnie due in November.
(Please note my floral pants.  I don't care what you say, the early 90's are back and they are FANTASTIC.)

Mary looked beautiful.

The shower was at Mary's husband Aunt's home.
Which was STUNNING.
It was the perfect place to have the shower.

Mary's Sister was in charge of games.
There were lots and lots of games....
Mom dominated the don't-cross-your-leg clothespin game.

I also made home made garlic bread

Lunch was all of Mary's Italian Favorites.
Lasagna, Ravioli from Genova's, Antipasto, Bean salad and Caesar Salad
She couldn't wait to dig in.

Last weekend Mary had her Maternity Pics done by Mia Hope.
Have I told you how much I love Mia Hope Photography..... I'm pretty sure I have...
Well...again..they did not disappoint.  They rush ordered a picture so that we could have guests sign it at the shower.
Mary was SO surprised and excited when she saw it.
Love. That.
Mary had a couple requests for her shower.  One of them was her cake.  She wanted a baseball theme cupcake cake.
Ask and you shall receive.
She had a great turn out. Here is Mary, her Mom, her daughter and her Sister. All the Rogers women in one row.  I have been an honorary Rogers woman since 1988...right before I first wore floral print pants...  ;)

I can't wait to meet this baby!!!
Congrats to Mary and Shane...before they know it their family of 3 will be a perfect family of FOUR.

Sunday I was BEAT.
Lucky for me it was Emmy Sunday....
lots and lots of couch time
If you know me....I can't get enough Red Carpet....
We broke out the snackies...and the good stuff...
Have you tried Sparkling Pinot Noir??  Because if you haven't..you SHOULD...
It's amazing....
I also had a special visitor come and share in the fun....

Now back to the grind....

My slippers are waiting for work in the morning.

Hope you had a great weekend!!

Weekend in Pictures

We had a very busy weekend!

Saturday Vince and Gabe came by for dinner.....

Rigatoni, three bean salad and caesar salad with hot bread from the oven...

MMMmmmm
(it was a joint effort)

Lots of kid time....

Sunday Morning we were up and at 'em early for the Alameda Antique Fair!

Sooooo many vendors...

Tired...But Ready to Shop!

There is something for everyone here....
Be on the lookout for this little item on Pinterest..... It's sure to be the next hot thing to "makeover".  They were EVERYWHERE.  Cute vintage telephone table with cubby...I just need to find the perfect corner in my house and I'll be bringing one home soon..

I love, love, love these shabby chic painted mantles....  I want one over my bed...and in my entryway....and...... anywhere really...I want all of them!

We had to take a break and enjoy some goodness from all the food trucks that line the edges of the fair.
These ladies opted for crepes..

While I opted for the Indian Wrap.  Chicken Tikka Masala in a Fresh Naan wrap.  So. Good.
(This photograph does not do it justice)

There were so many treasures...
I loved this jewelry
it's scrabble tile turned into pendants.
Love. That.
(I immediately thought of Tegan)

I can not explain how hard it was to walk away from this piece of art.
I NEED this for my kitchen!

I think I may have a new little piggy obsession....

A quick pic to show Mr. Kirbyface something he might like to add to the ManCave..

I love to people watch at the fair.

There's just too much to look at!
As we were leaving the line went on F O R E V E R....
I'm so glad we got up early.
It's nice to have a veteran of the fair to show us the tricks!
Thanks Shan!

We were so inspired when we got home...we poured over our Iphones, and Ipads and computers on Pinterest...looking for things to create with future purchases...
But then we got hungry..
and started looking at pictures of pinned food...and not so much distressed furniture....

And the frying began...

Ladies and Gentleman...

Deep. Fried. Avocados.
Hello Fantastic.

And...
Deep Fried PICKLES.
What?!?!
Oh yes I did.
And they were AMAZING!

While the ladies were shopping, Mr. Kirbyface took the kids to the park to let out some energy.

In addition to being child wrangler...he also, cleaned and vacuumed the whole house, including loading and unloading the dishwasher AND made THE BED.

Super Dad!

Monday was our laaaaazy day......

Dad got up early  and let me sleep in...

Awww....

Ponytail a la Daddy

Quality sibling time....

Getting fancy...

Bruschetta Apps

Teriyaki Grilled Chicken by our very own grill Master.

And a little cuddle time before bed.
(even if it's forced...)

Happy Labor Day!!!
