Ten on Ten

Ten on Ten
January 10, 2011
{Document a snapshot of your life & find beauty among the ordinary things in your day!}
I love this idea I stole from The Larson Lingo.

For my first 10 on 10 I waited until the 10th fell on a Saturday.....But then I figured....maybe I should document an average day....Who knows?  I may not do this job FOREVER....

So...

Here is my second 10 on 10.

Maddie had a looooong night.
Horrible cough, Fever....she did NOT want to wake up....
She also did not want to say good-bye to Mommy when she left for work.
(On Monday's she stays home with Brit. Mom was in town too, otherwise I would have stayed home with her...poor baby.....At least I knew she was in good hands.)
On my way to my first appointment.
(yes...your vision is fine.  Those are fingerless gloves.  Laugh if you will...it was 39 degrees this morning, and for this native Californian-that is COLD. So shush Rose. I have to type...OUTSIDE!  I need my fingertips available!  Thank you Santa, I LOVE my new gloves!
My first stop.
This one took about 2 hours....
Snack time.....
I'm working on those resolutions.....
So far, So good!
(still having a tough time with that water thing....)
Came home early for an afternoon snack with Mads.
(she forgave me for leaving her....)
Jack-man stealing some time with Daddy's new IPad before dinner.
He set the table!
(Dad helped with the candle...But he did the rest by himself, including getting the paper towels and silverware out.  Jack told me that he wanted the table to look like a restaurant-He was very upset we didn't have flowers....it may not be set for royalty..but we're working on it....baby steps.)
Dad did bath-time so Mom could get her treadmill time in....since she overslept this morning.... oops!  Thanks Babe!
(No comments from the peanut gallery regarding my time and distance, I'm only 10 days into this work out regiment and I'm taking it slow!)
And finally a kiss good night to a very excited almost Birthday Boy.
(It's still 2 days away, and this boy just won't fall asleep!)

Happy 10 on 10!
Can't wait to read all of yours!

Move over Cheesecake Factory....

So....

I'm not a baker.   By any means.
I have always been a cook. There is no exact science to cooking, I can improvise-throw in a little of this and a little of that-and it will still be delicious.  Baking is so precise.  And I hate following the rules.....

But....

this weekend for Gram's B-day...

 I made this:
White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Caramel Cheesecake

Oh. My. Lord.

I was so proud of myself.

I knew I wanted something new to surprise Gram with for her Birthday dessert.

I recently had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and had a slice of their version.  As I was enjoying every mouth watering bite, I thought to myself, I wonder if I could recreate this....

So I went home, googled the recipe and found it from a fellow blogger!

If you would like to try it, you can click here.

Someone did all my dirty work for me and re-created the recipe!  So nice!

It really was quite easy, I followed her instructions to the "T".

Although my professional baking sous chef (Mom) was right by my side to help me just in case I had a baking emergency......

it still turned out just like the Cheesecake Factory's version!

Mom kept saying that she didn't like cheesecake.
But I found her sneaking in a whole slice!!

Here is the finished product complete with Caramel and Macadamia nut topping....
This Cheesecake is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

Make it at home and impress your friends.

It even got Grams seal of approval!

Happy Baking!

Let the Birthday Begin!

Today we celebrated Jack's 5th Birthday.
(His actual Birthday is the 12th, but today was the day we could get the location so today it was!)

Pump it up, Here we come!

Jack had quite the turn out today.
Almost his whole class
All our neighbors
close friends
and of course,
Family

Here is some of the group listening closely to the rules before they are set free

The longest line
 was for the slide....
Because it was SO MUCH FUN!

We were the first party of the day, which was so nice, because we were able to have both rooms.  While the *kids* played....the adults could enjoy breakfast!
Noah's and Starbucks...
Yuuuum!!

Jack played and played
And so did everyone else...

Then it was time for pizza!
And......

CUPCAKES!
Let me tell you about these cupcakes
They are made by Tammie @ Sinful Bliss
She is SOOOOO Talented!
I LOVED that she did mini cupcakes that were decorated perfectly for Jack's Pirate Party.  Her ingredients are all natural.  Which is PERFECT for Jack's diet.  Just remove the fondant and it's completely ALL natural.  Love her!  This is my 3rd event where I have used Sinful Bliss.  She can put any vision on to a cupcake.  Her talents are endless.  If you need cupcakes for your event, look no further, this is your girl!!
It was hard for Jack to resist before it was time....

When I asked Jack what his favorite part of the day was.....
He said the Chair!
He even shared his throne with his GF from school.
So Cute!
I'm not gonna lie...it got a little crazy....
But everyone had a great time.

Jack was so polite and sweet.

He passed out all the treasure chests to his guests as they left the party...
(I wonder where he learned to be such a good Host???)
:)

Such a great Birthday for our *little* man.

Happy Birthday Gram!

Today is my Grandmothers Birthday.

This aint your regular Grandma.

This is MY Gram.

And there is NO ONE like my Gram.

Our relationship is unlike any other in my life.

When I'm sad, she can cheer me up.  When something wonderful happens, I can't wait to call her.  If I need to vent. She will listen.  When I need her, she's there.
No. Matter. What.

Everyone should have a Gram in their life.

She is caring and thoughtful, and fun and crazy and I love her so much.

I have so many fond memories of Gram.

Here are just a few....

When I was 4, Gram would break out all the goodies she had in the pantry and lay out a smorgesboard for us to feast on when Mom had date night.  I could have as much as I wanted.  And I had all her attention, all night.

When I was 8 and moved to LA I got to visit Gram for a whole week.  I would fly by myself, and Gram would pick me up at the airport and we would have a ladies lunch in Jack London Square.

When I was 12 all I wanted was a pair of Guess Jeans.  Being one of four kids, a costly pair of jeans for a pre-pubescent girl was not a high priority.  Gram found some at a second-hand store.  She bought me 3 pairs.  I could have gone without Christmas that year.

When I was 16 she came to Colorado and redecorated my entire room.  She added shelves, and new bedding and transformed it to a "grown up" room.

When I was 20 and announced that I was engaged after 6 weeks of knowing a certain boy, she was the first to jump up off the couch smile, hug me tight and say how happy she was for me.

When I was 24 she had a heart attack.  I thought I was going to lose her. I grabbed her hand as she laid in the hospital bed.  She was unable to speak.  I leaned in close and told her I wasn't done with her yet, and I needed 15 more years.
We're on 9.
I think I may need to re-negotiate.

When I was 28, I watched a tear fall down her cheek when she witnessed the birth of my first child.

When I was 32 I decided there was no one else I could imagine naming my only daughter after.

Gram, my love for you is endless.

You are an amazing Woman, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend.

And we are so lucky to have you.
